JFA Collaboration Puts FAW National Syllabus on the World Stage

Chief Football Officer Dr David Adams presented the FAW National Syllabus to more than 1,000 coaches at the Japanese FA Coaching Conference, in Yokohama.

Dr Adams, and FAW Board of Directors Chair Steve Dalton OBE, were invited to the conference by Japanese FA Technical Director Taskeshi Ono, who was inspired by the Welsh Way Principles that underpin the FAW syllabus, on a visit to Wales in June 2022.

Following that visit, the Japanese FA Technical department formally launched the JFA national syllabus.

At the conference, Dr Adams provided a case study of how the FAW syllabus is applied in the Cymru national teams, to create a unified approach to development, as players transition through the pathway.

Steve Dalton was in Yokohama to initiate wider collaboration, as part of the Wales on the World Stage pillar of the FAW strategy.

The aim of the collaboration is to aid the Cymru men’s and women’s national and youth teams and to develop a wider understanding of the culture, environment and senior leadership structures of the Japanese FA.
